Domain 1: Planning and Preparation

1e Planning Coherent Instruction

Coherent instruction is the basis of any effective classroom and a necessity for students to gain deep understandings of dance content. Lessons should allow students to build on prior knowledge, account for the various type of learners, and demonstrate knowledge of the content and the socio-politcal contexts it's situated within. Below is an example of lesson plan created to explore Alvin Ailey's "Revelations" as a set up for a critique writing unit in a high school "Introduction to Dance Studies" class.
