Assessments are a tool of measuring student understanding and growth. They also offer opportunities to provide students feedback on their work and ways they can improve, either on a specific assignment or more broadly. One type of assessment that I use often in my teaching practice is a rubric; below is the rubric created to assess critique writing assignment for high school aged students, on Alvin Ailey's "Revelations."
