2a Cultivating Respectful and Affirming Environments

Respectful and positive learning environments are one of the most important aspects of dance education. Learning how to dance inherently involves taking risks and exploring new ideas; establishing an environment that supports students in that practice is one of the first things I bring up in my classes, in addition to reminders given as needed. Below is an example of one way in which I introduce class expectations and procedures to facilitate a safe, productive, and affirming learning environment.
